Complete Piedmont Ad Gallery

 

In spring 1910, the American Tobacco Company began a newspaper-ad campaign, "A Head of Them All," for its Piedmont brand of cigarettes. The campaign consisted of 26 different advertisements, each depicting a prominent figure in American history. Each ad featured the bust of a subject with a line describing his important contribution to U.S. history.

 

Though images of T206s were not featured -- as they were in Hindu and Old Mill ads -- each Piedmont ad contained the line "Pictures of your favorite base-ball players in the big leagues are now in Piedmont packages."

 

 

 

Newspapers ran a new ad once a week for 26 weeks. Examples of participating papers and dates:
